Tsing Hua University Inaugurates College of Sustai

National Tsing Hua University Establishes College of Sustainability to Cultivate Interdisciplinary “Green-Collar Talent”
National Tsing Hua University College of Sustainability

National Tsing Hua University officially established the College of Sustainability on May 23, 2025, with the inauguration ceremony witnessed by President Lai Ching-te, Minister of Environment Pang Chi-ming, and National Science and Technology Council Chairman Wu Cheng-wen, among other distinguished officials.

The College of Sustainability is the first interdisciplinary sustainability college in Taiwan, dedicated to cultivating key “green-collar talents” who will lead the nation toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, injecting strong academic momentum into Taiwan’s national sustainability strategy.

Sustainability is a broad and multifaceted issue that cannot be addressed by any single discipline. As the 13th college of NTHU, the College of Sustainability will collaborate with the science, engineering, and humanities and social sciences colleges to promote interdisciplinary, inter-university, and international research with a future-oriented focus—such as the development of carbon capture technologies and carbon trading platforms. All sustainability initiatives must be grounded in sound scientific understanding, aligning with NTHU’s strengths in fundamental sciences.

In the presence of Minister of Environment Pang Chi-ming, NTHU also signed a Letter of Intent for Partnership in Advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with seven corporations—ASE Holdings, UMC, Delta Electronics, ADATA Technology, China Steel Corporation, Swancor Holding, and GPM Group—demonstrating a shared commitment to driving green industrial transformation and achieving net-zero goals through joint collaboration between academia and industry.
